Great Things to Do While Visiting St George Island
1) St George Island State Park,
offers beautiful sandy beaches with large sand dunes, wildlife to enjoy, bird watching, trails to explore, overnight camping at their campground, lots of shells to collect, and located at 1900 East Gulf Beach Drive.
2) Paddy’s Raw Bar,
a waterfront Seafood Restaurant with daily live entertainment, and known for great oysters, bang bang shrimp, grilled Mahi fish tacos and great beer, located at 240 3rd Street East on St George Island.
3) Historic St. George Island Lighthouse,
offers panoramic views of the island, with spiraling steps ending with a metal ladder to reach the top.
4) Camp Gordon Johnston Museum,
a free World War II museum with lots of artifacts, old newspapers and documents, items from the Germans and Japanese, and historically important as the location for the trainings for the D-Day landings, located at 1873 Highway 98 West in Carrabelle, right across from Carrabelle Beach.
5) Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve,
a free educational and display center with tanks of live fish, taxidermy’s, boardwalk through natural Florida habitats, and overall a great place to bring families and children to explore more of Florida’s great wilderness, located at 108 Island Drive at Eastpoint, Fl, just before you take the bridge to St George Island.
